Starting today is another top freebie for long summer evenings. Dame Evelyn Glennie, current musician-in-residence in King’s Cross, will be ensconced in Lewis Cubitt Square to host the Cubitt Sessions, which spans classical music, immersive theatre, surreal comedy, experimental jazz and improvised opera.

Expect everything from British rock band Tess of the Circle, poet and comedian John Hegley, and Glennie herself to takeovers by Roundhouse, nearby venue Spiritland (Sean Rowley and Nev Cottee) and Tileyard Music, who are based up the road on York Way. Free, 27th July -13th August. More here, Lewis Cubitt Square N1

CLUB: Egg London

Egg’s still got it. Photo: PR
It’s the right time of year to party all night, until way past sunrise, and you could do worse than investigate the York Way clubbing institution’s Summer Series. August welcomes the Eastern Electrics after party on the 5th, with Art Department, Steve Lawler and Manu Gonzalez; and a Senso Records showcase with Oliver Huntemann, Victor Ruiz and Timmo on the 12th. Tickets here, York Way N7

FAMILY: KX Sports Day

What better way to recover from that wild night at Egg? Photo: PR

For one (hopefully sunny) Sunday you can lace up your go-faster pumps for what they call a “grown-up sports day” like no other. Have a go at yoga, bootcamp training or rock-climbing, or try tightrope walking, sack racing, or even competitive egg and spoon. All the proceedings take place all day in Granary Square. Events are completely free, from 11am-4pm and are suitable for all ages and abilities. You can always sink a pint at the Lighterman afterwards. Sunday 6th Aug, more here.
