Bacon Naan Roll kits? Yes please. Plus Italian cheeses and takeaway schnitzels

German Gymnasium

Located right by King’s Cross tube, the atmospheric German Gymnasium has reopened for delivery and takeaway, serving up their Mittal-European inspired menu to enjoy at home (Wed-Sun, 12pm-8.30pm). Dishes include smoked and grilled cheese pork sausage, sauerkraut, truffled potato puree, and crispy onions; curry-infused pork sausage, curried tomato sauce and chips; and chicken schnitzel with mushroom sauce and chips. Yum. There’s also a large selection of German beers to take away, as well as soft drinks and wines. Pancras Square N1, More info

Bacon Naan Roll kits at Dishoom

This week the wildly popular cafe launched their first-ever at-home cookery kit (main pic, above), providing punters with the ingredients – and the know-how – to create bacon naan rolls in their own kitchens. Each kit also contains the requisite tea and spices to brew a batch of masala chai. A limited number are released for same-day delivery at 3pm every afternoon (through their website), where first-timers can also find a handy video to assist in perfecting pillow-y soft naan at home. The kits are priced at £16, providing breakfast for two, with chai. For every kit sold, they donate a meal to Magic Breakfast, a long-term charity partner that provides free, nutritious meals to children that might otherwise go hungry. 5 Stable St N1, More info

Please support us if you can

With the sad demise of our free monthly print titles across London last summer due to advertising revenues in freefall, we now need your support more than ever to deliver the ‘good-news’ cultural stories that celebrate our neighbourhoods. Every reader or business contribution, however big or small, is invaluable in helping the costs of running the websites and the time invested in the research and writing of the articles published. Please support Gasholder and Kentishtowner here for less than the price of a coffee – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
