MUST DO: Little Creatures Brewery bar, King’s Cross

Western Australian cult brewery sets up shop north of Coal Drops Yard

This shiny newish brewery bar nestles right on Lewis Cubitt Park, its bucolic views opening up yet another oasis-like corner of the King’s Cross development.

With its glass frontage, wooden sharing tables, high stools and banquettes, it’s so spacious that, fear not, even on the busiest days you will find a spot. And there’s a good-sized terrace, too.

Western Australian craft brewery Little Creatures – the moniker comes from a nickname for live yeast – is behind the new microbrewery, taproom and restaurant, with a year-round range as well as limited releases and special collabs with London’s own craft brewers.

The original brewery in Fremantle was formed back in 1999 by a group of mates, all hailing from the beer scene who wanted to brew a hop-driven American Pale Ale with a distinctive aroma and flavour.

And we can vouch for that: on our first visit the XPA (Extra Pale Ale, 4.9%) was clean and crisp, with tropical notes, while the citrusy Pale Ale delivered a bit more flavour and a stronger ABV (5.2%). For something simple, the refreshing Pilsner is an easy win, too (4.6%).

Need to soak it up? Food includes all-day brunch, sharing platters, big salads and gourmet burgers galore. Expect our full review very soon.

Open Mon-Sun from 7am each day until 12am, 1 Lewis Cubitt Walk, N1C 4DL. More info here
