Christmas at Canopy Market - stalls and festive lights at the market

Canopy Market is now daily for Christmas

Get into the spirit in N1C with a properly indie seasonal market

T

his vibrant monthly independent market is now running daily in the build-up to Xmas, with a whole bundle of (often free) seasonal masterclasses, workshops and tastings. And, as we’ve said before, it really is worth popping down.

Naturally it’s decked out in its super-festive best, lighting up its very own Norwegian fir tree and hanging glowing star lights from the restored Victorian canopy (outside Waitrose), while carol singers and live jazz interpretations of favourite Christmas tunes provide something like a seasonal soundtrack.

If you’re into good old-fashioned records – and, let’s face it, who isn’t? – stick Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th December in the diary as the Independent Label Market will be bringing together vinyl from some of the world’s coolest labels. Woop.

For foodie types, demos include how to put together a Christmas Day cheeseboard, a traditional Christmas fresh pasta masterclass, English wine tasting, and festive wreath-making and flower arranging (ok, so that’s not quite edible but you get our drift).

Oh, and you don’t even have to be on the hunt for gifts: just wander with a big glass of mulled wine, spiced cider, or cups of single origin hot chocolate – or scoff a hot mince pie (or six) if that’s more your thing.

Until 16th December, King’s Boulevard, N1C, Monday–Thursday 12-7pm, Fri 12-8pm, Sat & Sun 11am-6pm. After Christmas, the market returns on 18th Jan 2019. More info here.
