Ice-cream obsessive? Gelato Festival comes to King’s Cross

Taste dozens of flavours from 16 international artisan producers at this weekend's Canopy Market

Last Sunday it was all about flogging a bargainous sketch or two (how crazy was the queue, in fact, for the Art Car Boot Fair?)

And this weekend, it’s all change in N1C as the Gelato Festival returns for a timely frozen extravaganza.

Celebrating its 10th year, this two-day festie for the sweet-of-tooth showcases some of the world’s finest ice cream chefs, with 16 artisan producers coming together under one roof at the weekly Canopy Market.

It goes without saying you can sample a mouth-watering plethora of flavours, before gawping at the international masters at work on the world’s largest mobile gelato production laboratory, the “Buontalenti”, in addition to educational workshops where you can learn the art of ice cream-making with the Carpigiani Gelato University.

A whole bundle of unique creations and special editions will be available during the festival, so make sure you go off-piste if your usual is a mint choc chip. Recommended? The traditional Cassata Siciliana, the almond, pistachio and mandarin Il Siciliano and the Modica chocolate Il Modicano by Elenka. Oh my.

And best of all, it’s like the ice cream goddess has organised the event herself – as it’s rumoured to hit a sweaty 31 degrees on Saturday.

Canopy Market, King’s Cross 29-30th June 2019. Tickets priced £15 (£10 per child) and include access to all masterclasses and activities in the gelato school. More details here
