Well, this is a quite a cunning idea for those of you who aren’t planning a cosy night in a deux on the 14th. St Pancras International – still surely the swankiest station in the capital – is celebrating what it rather grandly calls “the art of singledom”.
How? By offering solo Londoners (and let’s face it, there are quite a few) some decent promotions and offers. Better still, they’re only accessed by flashing your smartphone to show membership to one – or, if you’re like that, several (we’re not judgey here) – dating apps.
The freebies on the day are quite varied according to personal taste: they include a complimentary skincare consultation or relaxing hand and arm massage at Neal’s Yard Remedies; a free hot chocolate at Godiva when you buy a cone of chocolate-dipped strawberries; 10% off your bill at the always-delish Sourced Market; free bubbly at Ted Baker; and an extra glass of Cuvée Rosé Champagne at Searcy’s Brasserie if you and a mate (or perhaps tentative first date?) book a three-course Valentine’s Day menu for two.
And while you’re on the first floor, of the station don’t forget to gawp at the very Insta-friendly Tracey Emin artwork, or back on the ground floor blast out a favourite power ballads on the free-to-play jukebox (it’s by the King’s Boulevard exit). You might even want to even impress a passer-by by having a go at playing on the legendary station pianos.
