Barrel Vault: a new budget boozer in St Pancras

The station finally has a cheap pub to grab a pint before the train

S

tuck for where to get a cheapish Punk IPA before the train sometimes? Yup, us too. So you could drop by the massive new 6500 square foot Wetherspoon pub at St Pancras – right next to M & S – whose name alludes to the role the station played in storing beer barrels from Midlands breweries in the late 19th century.

To celebrate (and as part of the terminus’s 150th anniversary) the Barrel Vault is showcasing several brewers this month, including Portobello, Redemption, Truman’s and Twickenham. Many of the offerings that will be available to sup on are associated with some of the calling points on the lines and routes accessible from the terminal.

The team will also be directing commuters and other suspects to venture in with discount vouchers for selection of 150 beers throughout October – one for every year since the depot opened. There’s also an outdoor terrace which faces the YouTube studios. And it’s open all day, from 7am till midnight.

Feeling peckish? There’s the usual array of food on the menu, ranging from a full English to eggs benedict for brekkie to pizza, curry or ribs for dinner. But for us, this one’s a watering hole only.
