We’ll admit it: we were sorry to see mostly plant-based restaurant Grain Store on Granary Square shut down. A shame as it was – in retrospect – really quite ahead of its time.
In its place inevitably is a big gun: it’s mighty competitive round N1C these days, after all.
Granary Square Brasserie is the latest from the chain of ever-expanding Ivy Collection restaurants – and will offer the expected modern British cooking, alongside internationally inspired fare.
So it’s a breakfast-coffee-lunch-dinner kind of place, with – well, it being the Ivy, after all – cream teas in the afternoon. To put you further in the picture, the restaurant group also own Sexy Fish, J Sheekey and Le Caprice.

With that in mind it’s all restrained furnishings, vintage leather bucket chairs and low brass tables, with banquettes upholstered in silk, and exotic kilim rugs.
Peckish? On the evening menu will be the likes of calamari with wasabi mayo, lime & chilli, and slow roasted lamb shoulder with roast vegetables. And at the weekend, brunch will be available until 4pm.
You don’t need us to tell you that the always lovely terrace has views across Regent’s Canal and Granary Square’s fountains, with heaters and blankets keeping things suitably snug during the harsh winter months.
