MUST DO: A virtual wine festival – and a real one

Confused? Don't be with these two weekend events that showcase the best of Greek and Argentinian wines

THIS WEEKEND: London Greek Wine Festival

Two-day festival of Greek food and wine. Photo: PR

Does Dionysus do it for you? If so, hotfoot it to this celebration of the Greek grape. Hosted by award-winning wine expert Olly Smith, the two-dayer will focus on everything from understanding indigenous grape varieties to the influence of terroir, with Greek food and a (perhaps not quite sun-kissed) holiday atmosphere to boot.

There’ll be 150 Greek wine producers, with local restaurant The Greek Larder dishing up meze platters, filo pie, lamb souvlaki, plus live music and dance acts. Free. 10am – 5pm, 13th-14th Oct West Handyside Canopy, N1C. More info here.

NEXT WEEKEND: Booze in a virtual vineyard

There’ll be a 140 strong wine list. Photo: PR

This is a quirky one for modern oenophiles. Wines of Argentina are ruffling up the staid image of the profession by setting up shop for one weekend only in Southampton Row with live visuals, DJs and cutting-edge cuisine.

Enter via a pop-up shop (also open to the public for off-license sales), explore a virtual vineyard, and then sample the culinary creations of Argentinian chef Lucas Bustos, with DJ Guille Bones on the decks. There’ll be 140 wines curated by producers from Salta, Buenos Aires, Mendoza and Patagonia. 19th & 20th Oct, Victoria House basement, Southampton Row WC1. Tickets here.
