Are you a fan of those little umami flavourbombs you can knock back by the dozen? Yup, us too. And this weekend King’s Cross will be transported to (something like) the olive groves of Spain with what should prove to be a delectable array of olives from across the country. If further proof is needed, acclaimed chef José Pizarro is on hand too, running cooking demos showcasing favourite olive-infused dishes. Meanwhile nutritionists and other culinary experts will be moseying around the interactive olive station, sharing recipe cards, running tasting sessions, admiring the olive art installations against a backdrop of Spanish music filling the Canopy Market. Free, Sep 29th- Oct 1st Fri (12-7pm), Sat (12-7pm) and Sun (11-6pm), Canopy Market, King’s Cross, N1C. More here.

La Fromagerie opens in Bloomsbury

Adding to the enviable lifestyle shops already in place on lovely Lamb’s Conduit Street is a new corner branch of the acclaimed Highbury deli. It features a signature Cheese Room, plus ground floor shop selling seasonal fruit and vegetables, breads, cakes, and own label products.

There’s also a 26-cover bar and café with alfresco pavement dining for those last sunny moments of the year. Downstairs is the Tasting Room, featuring a glass covered courtyard, available for private hire and tutored events. Opens Sept 11th, 52 Lamb’s Conduit St WC1N. More here.

Finally, dishing up a pretty decent, if not groundbreaking, range of gourmet pies for the last few years, Holloway Road’s puntastic pastry purveyors have just opened a new branch in King’s Cross, with craft beers lining the windows, traditional tiling and cheap and cheery fare. Choose from trad options like chicken and leek or a posher vegan lentil, sweet potato and Thai curry. 3 Caledonian Road, N7. More here.
