MUST DO: Camley Street harvest party

This Friday the annual free event is back once again. And it's a brilliant way to spend an autumn evening

We absolutely love Camley Street’s annual Harvest Party, tucked away in the Alara Wholefoods unit somewhere on the industrial estate between Camden and King’s Cross.

As well as ridiculously friendly hosts and a real sense of community you can enjoy a dazzling spread of free food and drink: this year there’s a hog roast as well as a selection of vegetarian and vegan salads and dishes. Plus live music all evening, a warming inner-city bonfire and some of north London’s local businesses and charities to boot.

Bringing the ankle-biters? There’s crafty activities to keep ’em entertained, too. Hell, there’s even an apple pie bake-off comp: can you get any more idyllic than that? (Incidentally no baking expertise needed: email mirjam@alara.co.uk).

The whole event is in support of The Urban Orchard Project, who work in partnership with communities to plant, restore, manage and harvest orchards in urban areas “to help rediscover the pleasure of eating home-grown fruit.”
