Maple & King’s is opening in King’s Cross

Adria Wu has chosen St Pancras Square as the location for her second store

Brunch places and their ilk seem to be cleaning up around N1C at the moment: invariably queues snake out of Granger & Co or Dishoom, and the likes of Caravan and Vinoteca are noisily rammed throughout the day.

The latest addition (to queue for, natch) is Maple & King’s, a second store following the success of Maple & Fitz from talented Canadian chef Adria Wu.

Le Cordon Bleu-trained Wu opened the original W1 branch in March 2015, bringing healthy, hearty food to that upscale little corner of central London. Now she’s setting up stall in N1C’s foodie quarter next month, alongside mahoosive neighbours Nike and Google.

The new, bigger store will serve everything from coffee to weekend brunches and pop-up supper clubs on select evenings. The weekday menu will encompass breakfast, cold-pressed juices and smoothie bar, and a gluten-free bake shop offering salted caramel brownies, ‘everything’ cookies and mini berry vegan muffins to snack on.

A lunch menu will feature seasonally changing salads with on-trend items like tahini spiced free-range chicken, miso salmon or five-spice tofu in sesame almond butter dressing.

And customers will perch in a clean white interior, “roughed up” with touches of reclaimed oak and marble, while a mezzanine area overlooks Pancras Square, with alfresco suntrap for – bring it on! – warmer weather.

Maple & King’s opens on April 3rd at No 1, 3 Pancras Square N1C 4UR
