Late last year a regular fixture landed in King’s Cross. Organised by two local friends, the aim for the new weekly Food Assembly was quite simple: to enable locals to access high-quality food while supporting small-scale producers.
It takes place every Sunday at the community-owned King Charles I pub on Northdown Street, where you’re invited to meet farmers, food makers, neighbours and taste all manner of samples. There’s often a live band or two as well, so you can enjoy some music as you munch.
Inside our April issue, out today, we meet Sophie and her friend Sara, the two women behind bringing the project to the area, and also count down five other ethical food-based enterprises.
