You really shouldn’t miss new play Poll Function by Greg Shewring at the Pleasance Theatre, just east of York Way this week. A coming of age story, it’s fairly topical too in a time of increasing student debt and social austerity, and explores issues of responsibility and adulthood in its ride through two friends’ past, present and future.
Carpenters Mews, North Road, London N7, runs 23rd-28th February. Tickets here.

2. Find out more about HS2

Tonight sees the launch of a new community hub where those living and working around Euston can come and find out more about the plans for HS2. The construction of this controversial new railway line will have a big, long-term impact on the area, so it’s well worth heading along to the hub to get the lowdown.

Interactive maps, a scale model of the area, project timeline, programme of community engagement events and a feedback system for residents can all be found in the lovely old National Temperance Hospital, which has been revitalised recently by Camden Collective, before the bulldozers move in.
HS2 Hub at Collective Temperance Hospital, 110 Hampstead Road, NW1 2LS, open all day Tuesday-Friday, with late nights on Thursdays and the first Saturday of each month.

3. Put your kids up on the stage

The Railway Children just keeps on chuffing and tooting proudly along, with a fourth extension of its run at the King’s Cross Theatre (opposite Granary Square) just announced.

Tickets are now on sale through until October 30th 2016, so the producers are on the lookout once more for talented local school kids to make up the children’s cast.

They are holding auditions next weekend (5th March) for boys and girls aged 8-16 from these times 10.15am (8-10s), 12.45pm (11-13s) and 3.15pm (14-16s) – remember to bring a recent head and shoulder photo, too.

Meanwhile, for those who simply want to watch a real steam train thunder into the auditorium (rather that ride across the stage aboard it), tickets and all the info can be found here. And you can also read our review of The Railway Children too.
Saturday 5 March at Sunday School Hall Union Chapel, Compton Terrace, Islington, N1 2UN.
